Microsoft Inspire Conference

Kirk iSS Senior Account Manager Carson George and Systems Consultant Bryan Spence recently attended the annual Microsoft Inspire Conference. The conference, which took place July 9-13 in Washington DC, is an opportunity for Microsoft partners to showcase their solutions, as well as network with other vendors and partners from around the world.

Partners from 140 countries attended the Inspire Conference. The Kirk iSS team found the exchanging of solutions to be of great value. “It was amazing to hear that we all share the same customer experiences with other partners from other parts of the world when it comes to working with our customers on the journey to the cloud” says Carson George. Those exchanges mean Kirk iSS has even greater insight into finding the right solution for clients.

Microsoft Inspire Conference Highlights

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Strategic Alliances Director Priya Gore were some of the speakers at the event. A major highlight was the company’s commitment to be not only “partner-lead”, but also “partner-first” by investing $250 million to connect partners with customers.

New Products

Microsoft unveiled a new product called Microsoft 365. It is a new bundle device management and security offering, that brings together Office 365 and Windows 10. There are two versions – Microsoft 365 Enterprise for large organization and Microsoft 365 Business for small and midsize businesses.

Microsoft also announced that Azure Stack, the company’s hybrid cloud platform, is available for ordering from initial hardware partners HPE, Dell, EMC and Lenovo. Azure Stack enables hybrid application development and provides a consistent platform for connecting from Azure data centers to the edge.

Changes to Customer Management

Microsoft is changing how they manage customers. The changes focused on enabling its partners to develop, grow and be successful. Microsoft wants to better understand its partner’s customer industry verticals and make sure that the conversations Microsoft account teams are having with partners is more relevant. The company will now have Healthcare, Legal, and Financial account managers assigned within various regions. Additionally, Microsoft partners and customers will be working with either a partially or completely new Microsoft team after recent changes in personnel.

Cloud Solution Provider

Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) services were in heavy focus at the conference. Microsoft’s CSP is maturing as the lead platform for partners to develop compelling and differentiated offerings for Microsoft Cloud services. A major point of interest was a CSP that offers customers a full cloud solution with the purchase of Microsoft’s cloud products like Office 365 and Azure.

HPE Discover Conference 2017

Kirk iSS Senior Account Manager Carson George recently attended HPE’s annual Discover Conference.  The conference took place in early June, at the The Venetian hotel in Las Vegas. Over 2,500 people attended the conference, including HPE employees, HPE customers, and HPE vendor partners. Attending the conference puts Kirk iSS on the cutting edge of new technologies, which allows the Kirk iSS team to provide the best service and help clients find the best solutions for their company’s needs.

Discover Conference Keynote Highlights

Meg Whitman, HPE’s President and CEO served as the keynote speaker at the Discover Conference’s general session. Highlights from her speech include HPE’s business strategy and vision, recent acquisitions, new business ventures and products, and customer testimonials.

HPE’s business strategy and vision

HPE is focused on helping customers with Hybrid IT platform and driving datacenter automation through software-defined solutions to help customers deliver services quickly to their customers and end-users.   HPE calls this journey to a Hybrid IT platform – “a digital transformation”  Hybrid IT is a mix of a public and private cloud platform. Because of this mixture HPE firmly believes it is where most customers are moving to into the future with the introduction of mobile apps and cloud applications and services.  The traditional datacenter will never go away completely but more and more customers will be looking at cloud solutions to keep up with the demands of the business moving forward – this is the Hybrid IT, which we are hearing more and more about.

Key company acquisitions

HPE has made a number of key company acquisitions including Nimble Storage, Simplivity and SGI.  As a result of  these key acquisitions, HPE can offer their customers the best products and solutions on their journey to their digital transformation.

New Consultancy & Professional Services Division

HPE launched a new consultancy and professional services division called. Transition to a Hybrid IT platform is complex.  Because of this HPE launched Point Next. PointNext guarantees customers access to HPE’s technical engineers and professional service consultants.  As a result customers can feel confident that they are getting the best customer service experience possible for consulting, designing, implementation, and management services offered by this group.

New Server Announced

HPE announced the new HP Proliant G10 Servers at the Discover Conference. The new servers feature some significant upgrades to the processor, memory, storage, and network included in the server. The release date is set for later this year or early next year.

Transformation Zone

HPE Transformation Zone highlighted product demonstrations, for several HPE technologies. Featured was HPE Synergy Product, the next evolution for hyper converged product for customers looking to accelerate to an Hybrid IT platform.  Also featured were HPE partner community, including VMWare and Veeam.

Kirk iSS, HPE Highlight Storage and Server Strategies

Kirk iSS and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) partnered to host a lunch-and-learn event on May 17 at The Brasserie. The focus of the event was the newest developments in HPE storage and server technology.

The expert

Lucas Sanches Dauria, a Datacenter and Hybrid Cloud Specialist for HPE was on hand to discuss developments in enterprise servers, storage and networking. Lucas has extensive knowledge and training in storage and servers. He has more than 10 years of experience, ranging from consulting,  integration, to solutions architecting.

Storage and server strategies

The presentation began with an overview of updates to the HPE portfolio. This overview included details about Synergy, a platform built for composable infrastructure. Also highlighted were new features of 3PAR, a tier 1 all-flash data storage array that can scale from midsize to the largest enterprises and service providers. Lastly details were shared on SimpliVity, an enterprise hyperconverged platform which aims to help companies achieve cloud agility.

Topics of interest

Other areas of discussion included datacenter consolidation, specifically composable infrastructure to consolidate datacenter. Additionally, participants learned how HPE can help companies with their disaster recovery strategy.

Throughout the presentation attendees were able to pose questions to the presenter to gain greater understanding of the topic, trends and products.
